The late Soke Hirokazu Kanazawa (1931-2019), 10th dan, is one of the world’s most renowned and respected traditional karate masters to have ever lived. He won the notorious ‘All Japan Karate Championship’ Kumite championship in 1957 and in 1958 won the Kata and Kumite Titles. Kancho Nobuaki Kanazawa
Kancho Nobuaki Kanazawa, 8th Dan, was born in May 1972 and is the eldest of the late Soke Hirokazu Kanazawa’s three sons. Kancho (隊長) means head or captain, and it is this role that Kancho Kanazawa fulfils for both SKKIF and SKIF (our international parent organisation); he frequently travels the world including the UK, hosting seminars and gradings. Kyoshi Roger Carpenter
Kyoshi Roger Carpenter, 8th Dan is is the Chief Instructor and Chairman of SKKIF. Originally training in the Wado-Ryu style he changed to the Shotokan style under Soke Kanazawa. All of his grades from 5th Kyu to present day have been from Soke Kanazawa, making him the most senior instructor in Europe both in terms of grade and time with SKIF. Read more…
